Most people, if asked, probably wouldn’t say that Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida. However, it is, indeed true. It is the most populous city proper in Florida and the 13th most populated in the United States.
Located in northeast Florida, Jacksonville first began with the European-American settlement that came there in 1791. The city was renamed for Andrew Jackson, as he was the first military governor of the Florida Territory, and would go on to become the 7th President of the United States.
