In 2007 the population of Nashua was calculated to be about 87,000 residents, making Nashua the second largest city in New Hampshire after Manchester. Nashua was founded around the textile industry, which has for the most part vanished from the area. Nashua has been caught up in the economic boom which has taken place in the southern region of New Hampshire which is tied to the expansion of the Boston region of New England. Nashua was honored twice has “The Best Place to Live in America” by Money magazine in their annual surveys.
