Memphis

Memphis is situated in the southwest corner of Tennessee with an estimated population of 670,000. It is the largest city in the state and the 19th largest in the United States.  Memphis is the youngest of Tennessee’s four major cities and a resident is referred to as a Memphian. Memphis is home to many American music genres where it helped to establish Blues, Gospel, Rock n’ Roll and more.  Memphis offered starts to such music legends as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Isaac Hayes and B.B. King.  Many well known writers come from Memphis including Tennessee Williams, Shelby Foote and John Grisham (who grew up right nearby).
